Kære Familie,
Things are going good here in freaking freezing butt cold Slagelse. I swear if I ever say I love snow again punch me! It snowed again this past week after having been completely melted!!! We also found out transfers this past week. After all the hype with Transfer Madness, it was one of the biggest duds ever! Only a few companionships moved. Mauler and I are staying in Slagelse which apparently is unheard of. Usually a trainer and trainee are seperated to "prevent furthur damage". But we're excited cause we'll get to work with our investigators and try and get them in the water hopefully. We met with our promising investigator this week who told us she feels like she should be baptized. Wooooot!!!! But it was pretty low key this week. We thought that Mauler was leaving so we did a lot of visiting with the inactives that he really liked only to find out that he wasn't leaving. We maybe (big maybe) get a car in the next couple weeks just because of all the travel time that we have that could be spent doing something more worthwhile. In Korsør the other day, we tried to meet with four people who weren't home and then ended up on the wrong bus and waiting for the right bus for an hour and a half. We have the 3rd largest area in the mission so we hope the car comes to us, but we don't know yet. I'm guessing not because we haven't thrown a big enough of a hissy fit to get it.
One thing that is a huge temptation that I found the other day is Harry Potter books in Danish!!!!! I really want to get one of them for language study because I could really use it to see normal converstional Danish. I was a good boy and walked away, but I am definitely getting them when I go home!!!
Yesterday in Church, I was called upon by my trainer to translate for this guy visiting from the Phillipines. I was super nervous but it ended up being pretty good until the last talk. One of the members of the bishopric got up who is from Jylland. The best way to compare their accents is a heavy southern accent (Jysk) to normal unaccented English. Now imagine somebody just learning English trying to understand a hick. Yeah my situation. So about 5 sentences in I had only gotten the topic of what he was talking on (Family Proclomation) and decided it was hopeless to try and translate. So I gave my own talk to this Fillipino guy on the Family. Hope he liked it, I worked hard. Yeah divine inspiration I know. ![]()
So glad to hear things are getting a little better health wise. Love and miss ya'll tons!!!! Hope you have a good week!!!!
William
